Q: Is the USA going to rent a hospital ship for Greenland as their own ships are at dry dock and not configured for icy water?
Actually our senior citizen criminal of a POTUS has likely forgotten that “bright and shiny balloon” in favor of something new that catches his attention, querent.
After all that was a few days ago.
Anyway…if the United States were REALLY going to send help to an ally in the form of a medical vessel it would likely use a ship like this one:
to
It’s the USS Makin Island and it’s an amphibious assault ship used mainly to support Marine Corps operations. It can, of course, land a sizable number of helicopters while it also has a huge bay under its rear deck which could converted into triage center or even support operating theaters, if necessary.
Unlike the current US Navy hospital vessels, the Makin Island s NOT in drydock at this time and the medical staff of both hospital vessels and any necessary equipment could be transported to the ship to get it underway. if additional resources were required, it seems likely that the US Air Force could ferry supplies to the US base in Greenland or its civilian airport, and from there have them flown out the Makin Island if docking proved to be too difficult due to icebergs or floes.
However (and again) Trump has probably forgotten about this idea and has returned to his standbys of illegal immigrants (bad) vs. tariffs (good).
