I saw Tom Hanks at Best Buy! He was standing in line right in front of me with a full cart, completely by himself. I was only there to grab a bottle of water because they didn’t have what I originally needed. Suddenly, without thinking, I blurted out, “Forrest Gump is my favorite movie.” I probably sounded a little awkward.
Tom Hanks turned around, smiled, and said, “That was my favorite movie to make! I’m glad you love it.” After that, we ended up chatting about movies while we waited in line together. He was so friendly and easy to talk to.
When it was his turn to check out, he looked at me and said, “Oh, let me get that water for you,” and paid for it. We kept talking as we walked out of the store. Before leaving, he said, “Nice talking to you! You’re a very nice young lady, and always remember… life is like a box of chocolates… you never know what you’re gonna get,”—and he even said it in his Forrest Gump voice.
It was honestly the best experience ever!
