Carrie and Craig were a loving couple who dreamed of becoming parents. For a long time, they tried to have children of their own, but doctors told them it might never happen. Though heartbroken, they didn’t give up on their dream of having a family. Instead, they opened their hearts to adoption.
In the United States, they were matched with a birth mother who was expecting twins. On February 28, the twins were born, and Carrie and Craig officially became parents for the first time. They were overjoyed and deeply grateful for the chance to raise these two precious babies.
Exactly one year later, something unbelievable happened. The same birth mother became pregnant again—and once again, she was carrying twins. Even more astonishing, these twins were also born on February 28, the very same date as the first pair.
The birth mother felt strongly that all four siblings should grow up together in the same home. She reached out to Carrie and Craig and asked if they would adopt the second set of twins as well. Although the couple desperately wanted to say yes, the cost of a second adoption was overwhelming.
That’s when The One Chance Foundation, led by author Karen Kingsbury, stepped in. The foundation awarded Carrie and Craig a generous grant to help cover the adoption expenses. Thanks to that support, the couple was able to adopt the second set of twins, bringing their family to four children, all born on the same day, just one year apart.
Then came the biggest surprise of all.
Not long after the second adoption, Carrie began feeling unwell. She went to the doctor—and discovered she was pregnant. Even more shocking, she wasn’t expecting just one baby… she was carrying twins.
Against all odds, Carrie gave birth to her biological twins on February 28 as well—the same birthday as their adopted siblings.
In just a few years, Carrie and Craig went from believing they might never have children to becoming parents of six children—three sets of twins—all born on February 28.
Their story is a powerful reminder that adoption changes lives forever, and that sometimes life’s most beautiful miracles happen when you least expect them.
