Ricky Megee – The Australian Bush Survivor

Ricky Megee is an Australian man who became famous for surviving 71 days alone in the Australian bush in 2006 under extreme conditions.

His ordeal began when he was traveling in Western Australia. Ricky picked up a hitchhiker who later drugged him. After losing consciousness, Ricky was robbed and abandoned in a remote desert area, far from any town or help. When he woke up, he was confused, weak, and disoriented, with no clear memory of how he got there.

For around 10 days, Ricky wandered aimlessly, not fully understanding what had happened to him. The heat was intense, and he had no food, no shelter, and very little water. Eventually, his survival instincts took over.

To stay alive, Ricky began eating whatever he could find in nature, including grasshoppers, lizards, frogs, and leeches. He collected rainwater and water from puddles when possible and used basic bush survival instincts to endure the harsh environment. Despite extreme weight loss and exhaustion, he kept moving and refused to give up.

After 71 days, Ricky was finally found by shepherds who were checking their land. He was alive but barely recognizable, severely dehydrated and malnourished. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors were surprised he had survived so long in such conditions.

Ricky Megee’s survival is considered one of the most remarkable survival stories in Australian history. His experience highlights the power of human resilience, instinct, and the will to survive even in the most hopeless situations.
