A dad who has been told he has terminal cancer is asking for one final wish.
46-year-old Paul Rainford began having symptoms of a water infection in April. After two courses of antibiotics, there was still no improvement. The father of two from Netherley was sent for more tests, which revealed he had prostate cancer. At first, the family thought everything would be okay, but further tests showed the cancer had spread to his bones and lymph nodes. On June 26, Paul was told the cancer was terminal.
That night, his sister Helen went to see him and asked what he wanted to do. Paul said his “last true wish” was to marry the love of his life, Lisa Lacy. Paul met Lisa, 36, 15 years ago through friends, and they have been inseparable ever since. They got engaged years ago, and Helen still has the original save-the-date card on her fridge.
Today, Monday (August 11), Paul had his first round of chemotherapy. Tired of waiting, he wants to marry the mother of his children as soon as possible. The family is also organising a raffle to help raise money for the couple.
