Adopted a sad cat

Today, my husband and I adopted a sweet older cat, 8 years old. We saw the shelter’s post about her—she had been given up by the person who had her since she was a kitten. She’s been at the shelter for almost a month, spending all her time curled up in a corner with her eyes closed. Our senior cat, who was 16, passed away last summer, and we decided it was time to adopt another older cat.

The shelter did all her tests, and she is healthy, except she seems very sad.

We set her up in her own room, and right now she is hiding under a dresser! I am hopeful that she will adjust with time.

Do you have any name ideas? And any suggestions for calming treats? I’ve used Feliway before, but it didn’t help much. Thank you!
