An American man named Steve McNeld had a strained relationship with his grandmother. He cared more about her money than about her, because she was wealthy and everyone believed she had saved nearly $900,000.
When his grandmother passed away, Steve didn’t feel sad. Instead, he felt happy thinking he would inherit all her money. At the funeral, he even took a smiling picture with her lying in the coffin, and posted it online. People were shocked at how disrespectful he was.
After the funeral, Steve rushed to his grandmother’s house, excited to see how much she had left him.
But when he opened the documents, he received the biggest shock of his life:
His grandmother had donated her entire fortune to charity.
There was no money for him at all.
Instead, she left him a handwritten note, full of sarcasm and disappointment. It said:
“My little dog, Steve…
I left you your grandfather’s crutch and my dentures in my closet.
I hope your feet wear out and your teeth fall out so you can make good use of them.
Get them before the new owners arrive!”
Steve stood there stunned, humiliated, and angry.
The new owners of the house were already on their way, because everything — including the house — had been donated.
The grandmother’s message was clear:
She knew Steve only cared about her money, and she made sure he learned a lesson even after her death.
