Angela Hansen has endured an unimaginable amount of grief in a very short time.
On July 4, 2023, Angela lost her husband, Kyley Hansen, who tragically drowned during a family pool party. The sudden loss left Angela to raise their children while mourning the man she loved.
Now, heartbreak has struck her family once again.
On Friday, Angela was cleaning out the family van at a car wash. She had parked near a small playground, where her 22-month-old daughter, Ada, and her 4-year-old daughter were playing nearby. While Angela was busy, Ada called out to her mother. Hearing her sister, the 4-year-old gently took Ada’s hand and began walking her back toward their mom.
At that moment, a truck parked nearby began to move forward. The driver did not see Ada, and the truck struck her. Despite emergency efforts, Ada tragically died from her injuries.
Angela’s sister, Lauren Paskett, spoke to KSL about the devastating accident. She shared that the 4-year-old child is deeply traumatized after witnessing her baby sister’s death. The entire family is overwhelmed with grief.
Ada was not only Angela’s youngest child — she was also, in Angela’s words, “the last piece” of her late husband Kyley. Losing Ada has reopened the wounds of losing Kyley, making the pain even heavier to bear.
Angela is now preparing to lay her daughter to rest. She plans to bury Ada next to her father, so they can be together.
Lauren described the incident as a tragic accident and emphasized compassion for everyone involved.
“Everyone is completely heartbroken. They are devastated. It’s a terrible accident,” Lauren said.
She also spoke with empathy about the 18-year-old driver of the truck.
“We need to support both sides. I feel so sad for him, knowing he has to carry this for the rest of his life. We want peace for everyone, and we forgive him,” she said.
The family has asked for privacy as they grieve the loss of a little girl whose life ended far too soon, leaving behind a mother, a sister, and a community forever changed by tragedy.
