Jim Carrey asks people to take a moment

Jim Carrey asks people to take a moment and imagine what it’s like to be poor, struggling, and without a home.
You are cold, hungry, tired, and trying to survive each day with dignity.

Then one day, someone shows up with a camera.
Instead of quietly helping you, they want to film your sad situation — your face, your pain, your vulnerability — so they can post it online.

They give you a little food, but only because it will look good on camera.
And even though it feels humiliating, you accept the food because you’re starving and don’t have any other choice.

Carrey’s message is about how hurtful and dehumanizing this kind of “charity for attention” can be.
It makes the person in need feel like an object, not a human being.

So he urges people:

  • Don’t help people just for social media likes.
  • Don’t turn someone’s suffering into entertainment or content.
  • If you truly want to help, do it quietly, with kindness and compassion.
Help because you care, not because you want others to praise you.
