After working two exhausting 14-hour shifts, I stopped by a Walmart late at night to buy something for dinner. I was tired and just wanted to get home, but something happened that I will never forget.
While standing in the checkout line, I noticed a woman in the line next to me. She was crying quietly. Her young daughter looked up at her and asked what was wrong. The mother, trying but failing to hold back tears, said, “We can’t afford to eat tonight.”
The words hit me hard.
A kind stranger standing behind her handed her a few dollars. With that small amount, the woman managed to buy her daughter a single Kids Cuisine TV dinner. Watching this broke my heart. I felt a strong pull in my spirit that I couldn’t ignore.
I stepped forward and told her, “Go ahead and grab whatever you need. I’ll pay for it.”
She looked at me in shock. I could see disbelief, relief, and gratitude all at once. She began adding food—real food—to her cart, enough to feed her family, and I paid for everything.
I don’t normally shop at that Walmart. I rarely even go there. But in that moment, I truly believe God placed me in that exact spot, at that exact time, for a reason. Sometimes we don’t realize why we’re where we are until God reveals it.
God puts us where we need to be, exactly when we need to be there—so we can be a blessing to someone else.
