On June 7, 1992, three women disappeared from a home in Springfield, Missouri, in a case that remains one of the most mysterious unsolved disappearances in U.S. history. They are known as “The Springfield Three.”
Who were they?
- Suzanne “Suzie” Streeter (19) – A recent high school graduate
- Stacy McCall (18) – Suzie’s close friend and classmate
- Sherrill Levitt (47) – Suzie’s mother
What happened before they disappeared?
On June 6, 1992, Suzie and Stacy graduated from Kickapoo High School. They spent the evening celebrating by attending graduation parties with friends. Initially, the girls planned to stay at another friend’s house, but it became too crowded.
At around 2:00–2:30 a.m., they decided to go to Suzie’s house, where her mother Sherrill was home. This decision was made at the last minute.
The next morning
On the morning of June 7, Stacy’s mother came to pick the girls up for a planned trip to a water park in Branson. When she arrived:
- The house was quiet
- All three women were missing
- Their cars were still parked outside
- Purses, money, IDs, and cigarettes were left behind
- The family dog was inside the house
There were no signs of forced entry, no struggle, and nothing obviously stolen.
Strange details inside the house
- The TV was on
- Broken porch light glass had been swept up
- Answering machine messages had been erased (but one strange message was accidentally saved)
The saved message was described as a lewd prank call, but police later ruled it out as unrelated.
Investigation and theories
Despite many leads and suspects over the years:
- No bodies were ever found
- No arrests were made
- The case remains unsolved
Some theories include:
- Abduction by someone they knew
- A planned crime by someone familiar with the house
