This is about my son and daughter.
My son passed away in 2015 from heart failure at the age of 26, and my daughter passed away in 2019 from sepsis after battling cancer. She was 27.
Losing them changed my whole life.
My story is about my daughter.
One day she called me from the hospital, completely disoriented, and I left work immediately to see her. She was going in and out of consciousness and was moved to ICU soon after I arrived. I couldn’t go with her because the hospital had strict visiting hours.
That night, around 10 o’clock, I got a call from an unknown number. It was a nurse from ICU saying my daughter wanted to talk to me. I woke up instantly. When I answered, she told me she was worried because the antibiotics weren’t working and she knew she was going to die. I told her to be patient and that the medicine would start helping soon. She told me she loved me forever, and then we hung up.
Just before midnight, the hospital called again and told us to come because she wasn’t going to make it. They had to put her on oxygen, and things looked very bad.
When I saw her, I just knew her soul had already left her body and that she was only holding on for us to see her one last time. I couldn’t speak; I was numb.
Two days before she passed, she had been staring at the door and said her brother was waiting for her.
I felt more at peace after losing her than I did when I lost my son because I knew they would now be together. They loved each other deeply. I miss them so much. We were very close, and sometimes the pain is so strong I can barely breathe. But I know they are watching over me.
I also have two grandchildren, ages 9 and 6, who miss their mom. I printed many photos of her for them because I never want them to forget her.
This is my story in short.
Thank you for reading.
