This morning, a Swatara police officer

Earlier this morning, a Swatara Township police officer was called to the Capital Diner after an unusual and emotional situation unfolded. An elderly man had finished his breakfast but discovered that his credit card had been declined. Confused and overwhelmed, he didn’t know how to handle the situation. Panicking, he even called the police himself, unsure of what else to do.

The restaurant staff treated the man with patience and kindness, giving him space and time to figure out another way to pay. Despite their understanding, the man remained distressed and stuck. When Officer Anthony Glass arrived at the diner and learned what had happened, he quietly stepped in without hesitation.

Officer Glass walked up to the counter, took out his own credit card, and paid for the man’s breakfast. The elderly man was deeply touched and asked the officer for his phone number so he could repay him later. Officer Glass gently refused, making it clear that he expected nothing in return. His simple act of compassion turned a stressful moment into one of dignity and relief.

This small but powerful gesture shows the human side of policing and reminds us how kindness can make a big difference, especially for someone who is vulnerable. Officer Anthony Glass’s actions truly deserve recognition.
