You can even find photos of bodies of the 9/11 jumpers after they hit the ground. The photo I posted is of the Triangle Shirt Factory Fire, which also happened in New York City. Because it happened at night, it would have been difficult to photograph anybody in the act of jumping or falling.
James Nachtway shot 27 rolls of film on 9/11 and matched bodies seen in windows and corpses on the ground or in the act of falling. This provided closure for many families, although a Christian family in Indiana would not believe that their daughter would have, to them, committed suicide. There was a chance that she didn’t jump, some fell from crumbling walls or stumbled out of open windows through the smoke in the early moments after the attack.
I see no disrespect because these were not photos posted everywhere, in 2001 blogging was still in its infancy. Those photos that appear randomly now on Pinterest and Instagram are a bit more disparaging.
