What was the strangest military mission in the Vietnam War?

The time the US Navy dropped a toilet on the VC during the Vietnam war. No, I’m not joking.

See.

A toilet had broken aboard the USS Midway and was set to be tossed overboard, but the pilots salvaged it to be dropped at the 6 millionth pound of explosive to be dropped on the enemy in the theater!

Due to low bomb supplies, it wasn’t too uncommon for space to be open on the wing, so the pilots of VA-25 decided to drop something new on the enemy. The pilot of the A-1 Sky Raider, who made the “strike”, CDR Clarence Stoddard, was sadly later killed in 1966.

Of course Operation Wandering Soul also seems to be stranger still.

The US Navy during Operation Game Warden, interdicting VC traffic in the Mekong delta of South Vietnam, would play eerie funeral prayers in Vietnamese and distorted voices, citing the belief that one who dies outside his homeland is doomed to walk the land as an undead. Using speakers mounted on gunboats and choppers, they hoped to scare off superstitious enemy fighters. To what success this had is unknown.
